Home Up

The Colt .45s started out as a group of 4 close friends who wanted to create something new in the Durham music scene. Sick of straight indie and not great fans of metal, they went on to experiment with a mixture of indie, punk and electro, the result of which has been described as "a trip through the sordid underbelly of all things modern"1, "not a typical, predictable indie band"2 and an "individual brand of electro/art-pop/punk [which is] fun and danceable, whilst retaining a sultry intelligence and strong sense of direction"3.

After writing a full albums worth of material, recording a demo, and gigging across the region they have built up a strong fan-base in Durham, often selling out the local music venue (The Fish Tank) to its capacity.

They were the first band to record at the local amateur studio, Farry Studios and film a music video with CCTV Media which can be viewed on their MySpace. Out of a love for music, the band members also run a fanzine focused on local music and promote live music at a monthly locals bands night.

Future plans for the band include donating a track to a CD compilation of Durham bands in aid of OxJam (a huge Oxfam event), playing more gigs in the region and beyond and making recordings of new songs.
